With St. Patrick’s day falling on a Saturday this year, how could we not be feeling festive?
Many people who celebrate talk about luck, the luck of the Irish. There are shirts and hats saying “I was born lucky!” or “Feeling Lucky?”.
I like this thought process. Is being lucky by chance? or is it the mere fact that you believe it so it comes true?
Curiosity, asking and confidence
A lot of luck comes from being in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. But a lot of “luck” comes from being curious, asking questions and the confidence you have in yourself.
Lucky people ask for opportunities. Lucky people are curious. Lucky people are the kind of people that think “What’s the worst that can happen?” They aren’t afraid, they don’t overthink, it can be said that they take calculated risks, but they are open and willing and do it. They take action.
Your lucky charms
Do you have a lucky charm? A penny, a 4 leaf clover, a mantra, a ritual, your lucky shirt, lucky number… we put belief in these items, they are signs, we put energy into them, they speak to us. Sometimes they have a power over us because it feels good to believe in something good. We put power behind these things because we can specifically remember the who, what ,when, where of the great moments they are tied to. We think, if it was good enough to be lucky the first time around, then it can work again.
“I’m never changing this shirt” is something you overhear when the team wins the big game.
“Oh, that’s my lucky number!” because it’s your birthday or your sports number from high school or the day your child was born…
It gives you the confidence of those lucky times in your life that really meant something to you.
Attitude of gratitude
“Wow! I feel so lucky, that I get to….”
Have you ever said that to yourself? I was sitting outside in the sunshine today, spending time with my family listening to music, enjoying some refreshments and thinking I feel so lucky right now… but did all of the choices I’ve made so far get me to this point? or Am I lucky? or is it both?
Is it because I took the time to reflect about this awesome moment? Taking time to reflect and recognize the things we are grateful for so that we get more of those moments is important. Appreciating these moments is important. Sometimes you don’t realize it at the time, but these are the moments that change your life and shape your life.
Don’t be a leprechaun..
Grouchy, lonely, tricky, thinking everyone is out to get you… Although, the leprechaun is known for guarding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, it may seem like he’s rich. But honestly, what good is that gold if you’ve got no one to share it with.
Be open to the idea that good things are going to happen to you! Be open to getting to know people, to trusting them, being friendly and helpful and open minded.
That is what brings luck.
Feeling lucky to spend my life with such wonderful people in it! Relationships take time effort and love. It is the most important thing in my life.
What makes you feel lucky?
